
Picture shows the overview of an open pit mine at the study area. The top soil is considered as an overburden (about 5 m thick) and it was removed to expose the clean sand underneath. The thickness of the sand is approximately 15 m.

This was the best part of the field trip when the front tyres of our 4WD Hilux (white) were trapped in a wet and slippery muddy road.
