International Conference on Nanotechnology 2019

I have attended a 3rd International conference on Nanotechnology Based Innovative Applications  for the Environment (NINE2019) which was held in Naples, Italy.  The event was scheduled from April 14-17, 2019 for 4 days.  NINE2019 was organised and promoted by The Italian Association of Chemical Engineering (AIDIC).

IN-HOUSE TRAINING : Environmental Site Assessment & Geophysics

Happy New Year 2017 !. Two day In-House training was conducted at TNB Research Sdn Bhd located in Bangi, Selangor on 24 & 25 January 2017.  I was requested to give my input on Environmental Site Assessment (ESA).  I have used three volumes of Contaminated Land and Management Guidelines that were published by Malaysia DOE as main resources of my lecture.  It was then followed by two case studies on remediation of contaminated land (Case studies from Nagoya Japan on the construction of Eco-Clay Wall, bio remediation and Air Sparing technique.   Two local conference papers on two successfully ESA projects that have been conducted in Malaysia were also presented.

3-D Groundwater Modeling Animation using Visual Modflow Pro

This is part of the results to show the 3D hydrogeological model at one of the project site located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  The model was created to solve a seepage problem on the slopes of a valley.

The model shows the geological strata below the ground surface, the position of boreholes, the groundwater flow path and contour.  This 3-D animation model was successfully indicated several places of groundwater seepage at both slopes of the valley.

To date, the slopes were mitigated to reduce the groundwater level and hence, increase the slope stability.

My students named Best Speakers in an Undergraduate Thesis Seminar 2016

Congratulations to my undergraduate students who have received the best presenter award in a Geology Seminar that was held yesterday.

Slope Modeling - Oasys Slope 9.1 (Tutorial)

Model Kestabilan Cerun -- Oasys Slope Version 9.1

Oasys Slope Modelling - Version 3.5

It was in 1996 when I was first been introduced to Oasys Slope Stability software.  That was during my MSc dissertation project. I was supervised by Prof Charles Harris with the help from an engineer from Sir Halcrow Ltd UK.  . The main objective of the study was to evaluate the stability of a huge landslide, located in Bournville, Wales, United Kingdom. I used Oasys SLOPE Version 3.5 to complete the modeling work.  I still remember, I was given two boxes of diskettes containing the Oasys Computer Program.
