Environmental Consultancy for Tok Fakir Bridge Upgrade, Marang, Terengganu

I am delighted to highlight my recent appointment as the environmental consultant for the Tok Fakir Bridge upgrading project in Marang, Terengganu. My role, focused on the geological component of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Over the three-month contract period, I was responsible for preparing geology reports, analyzing potential impacts, recommending mitigation measures, and presenting findings to the Department of Environment (DOE). This assignment allowed me to apply my expertise in environmental geoscience to ensure that the bridge development is carried out responsibly, with due consideration for both engineering requirements and environmental sustainability.

Panel Review Accomplishment: Subsurface Dam Project in Langkawi

I am pleased to share that I have successfully completed my role as an appointed engineer panel reviewer for the underground dam project in Langkawi. As outlined in my consultancy appointment, my responsibilities included conducting water quality analysis, groundwater mapping, and assessing pollution risks, alongside providing technical advice and report reviews throughout the project timeline. This assignment, carried out under UKM Pakarunding Sdn. Bhd. in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, allowed me to contribute my expertise in hydrogeology and environmental geoscience to ensure the project’s compliance with professional standards and sustainable design objectives.

Japan Geoscience Union JpGU 2026 Meeting in Japan

At JpGU 2026 in Japan, I was honored to present my poster “Integrated Geological, Hydrogeological and Numerical Modelling Approach for Groundwater Seepage Risk and Mitigation Design in a Shallow Unconfined Aquifer, Putrajaya, Malaysia.” This study reflects my work in coupling field characterization, hydrogeological analysis, and MODFLOW Flex simulations to evaluate seepage risks and test French drain mitigation designs at a proposed burial ground in Presint 20, Putrajaya. I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of my co-authors from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Geoscience Consult Sdn. Bhd., Perbadanan Putrajaya, and IKRAM Engineering Services Sdn. Bhd., whose expertise and collaboration made this integrated research possible. Presenting our findings at JpGU was a rewarding opportunity to showcase Malaysia’s applied hydrogeology research and to engage with the international geoscience community.
