I have attended an International Conference of Brownfield Asia 2008 which was held at Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur. The conference was organised by IEM (Malaysia). I presented a paper with a title "soils and surface water contaminations at abandoned tin mine in Sg Lembing Pahang". The conference was from 21-22 October 2008.
GEE2008 was held in Kyoto Japan this year (2008). I attended the conference and presented a paper entitled "Groundwater contamination: current status in Malaysia". The conference was successfully organised by Prof Kamon and colleagues.
I spent 3 months of my sabbatical leave to do a research project at Cambridge University. I worked with Profesor Kenichi Soga and Panos. The project was entitled "DNAPL movement and dissolution rate in porous medium".
This is a very interesting outcrop that was discovered in Penang beach. Two layers of a very coarse sand may indicate high current deposits that probably can be associated with tsunami waves.
I had the opportunity to visit Goa on the 1st till 7th of October 2008. It was a wonderful experience. I stayed at Marriott Hotel for 4 nights, the hotel was excellent and the food was nice as well. I attended an International Conference in Geomechanics organised by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The conference was well organised!. I had a wonderful time in Goa.
