Workshop on Groundwater Contamination at Landfill Sites in Selangor
I attended this workshop as project leader (cum consultant) appointed by National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM). This photo was captured during the opening session. In the middle is Director General of NAHRIM, Ir. Tn. Hj. Ahmad Jamaluddin Shaaban and on the right is Director, Research Centre for Geohydrology, Dr Saim Suratman. The workshop was held in NAHRIM Selangor on May, 13th 2009.
Delivering my first speech on the overview of landfill sites in Selangor. My 2nd speech was about the impact of leachate into the surface water and groundwater quality in Selangor.

National Mineral Policy 2
I attended a workshop to discuss an action plan in National Mineral Policy 2 (Dasar Mineral Negara 2) very recently in Hotel GrandBluewave in Shah Alam. The workshop was organised by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. I was in the environmental thrust group to discuss an action plan to protect the environment to achieve sustainable mining in this country.
Permeable Reactive Barrier using ZVI
A new research on Zero Valent Iron (ZVI) was recently conducted by my PhD student Mr. Fares As Shaebi. ZVI was self-made in the laboratory using certain chemical processes. This ZVI was compared with the ZVI collected from US and Japan. They seemed to be almost similar. Sorption test indicated that this ZVI can be used to sorb arsenic contaminat in arsenic contaminated site. Figure shows the use of mini tank to simulate the usefulness of ZVI as permeable reactive barrier material to remove arsenic in groundwater (red solution in the tank).
